Detailed 10-Day Rwanda Kenya Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

You will be welcomed by our company representative or driver at the airport. Then you will drive to your hotel in Kigali for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour & transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, your driver-guide will take you on a half-day city tour of Kigali, one of the cleanest and most organized cities in Africa.

After the tour, enjoy lunch before heading to Volcanoes National Park, famous for its endangered mountain gorillas. C

heck in to your hotel or lodge. You can relax or visit the twin lakes or a cultural village if you wish. Dinner and overnight stay at your hotel or lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking & Flight to Nairobi

This will be one of the most memorable days of your safari. After an early breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing and to be assigned a gorilla family to track.

Led by ranger guides, you will enter the forest to search for the mountain gorillas.

You will spend an hour with the gorillas, keeping the recommended distance, taking photos as you watch them in their natural home.

Afterward, return to the park office for your trekking certificate. Then your driver will take you to your hotel or lodge for lunch before driving you to Kigali airport for your flight to Nairobi, Kenya.

Dinner and overnight stay at your hotel in Nairobi.

Day 4: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve

Early morning after breakfast, meet our company representative at your hotel and drive to Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya’s most famous park.

On the way, stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint to enjoy the views and take photos.

Arrive at Masai Mara in the afternoon, check in to your lodge or camp for lunch, and then go on an introductory game drive into the wild. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge or camp.

Day 5: Game drives in Masai Mara National Reserve

Start with a pre-sunrise game drive to spot predators and big cats hunting. Return to your lodge or camp after sunrise for breakfast.

After breakfast, take your packed lunch and head out again to explore the Mara plains. Depending on the season, you may see the famous wildebeest migration at the Mara River.

Look out for elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos (rare), buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, antelopes, gazelles, warthogs, hyenas, hippos, crocodiles, and more.

Have lunch at a picnic spot near the Mara River, then continue game viewing. In the evening, visit a Masai village for a cultural experience.

Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer from Masai Mara to Serengeti National Park

After an early breakfast and morning game drive, depart the Mara and cross the border into Tanzania for Serengeti National Park.

At the Isebania border, complete immigration formalities and enjoy an early picnic lunch.

Continue into the world-famous Serengeti for a welcome game drive on the way to your camp or lodge.

Serengeti is home to large populations of wildebeests, zebras, antelopes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, hippos, and giraffes. Dinner and overnight at your camp or lodge.

Day 7: Exploration of the Serengeti Plains

Wake up early for a pre-breakfast game drive in the Serengeti. Look for big cats hunting or feeding. Return to the lodge for breakfast.

After breakfast, spend the day exploring the open plains, searching for the Big Five and, if the season is right, the wildebeest migration.

Enjoy a picnic lunch and continue game viewing. Dinner and overnight at your camp or lodge.

Day 8: Drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, take a final game drive as you leave Serengeti and drive through the Seronera River Valley, known for many predators and prey.

Continue to the Ngorongoro Crater rim for a game drive. Expect to see giraffes near the rim. At the crater floor, you will find animals like impalas, topis, wildebeests, and many others.

Have a picnic lunch in the wild and continue game viewing. Return to your camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater Exploration

After an early breakfast, take a full day to explore the Ngorongoro Crater. Descend into the crater and admire its beauty and the many animals living there.

Over 25,000 animals and more than 450 bird species live in this natural wonder, which has water all year round.

Look for big cats such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards (rare). Also spot elephants, buffaloes, black rhinos, hippos, elands, wildebeests, zebras, oribis, waterbucks, Thomson’s gazelles, and many birds.

Return to the crater rim for a picnic lunch, then drive back to your camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Departure – Arusha

After breakfast, you will be picked up and transferred to Arusha airport to catch your flight home. There will be a brief stop for souvenir shopping on the way.
