Detailed 10-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, you leave Kampala for Murchison Falls National Park, a 5-hour drive through Luweero and Masindi with a lunch stop in Masindi. You continue to the top of the falls, where the Nile forces through an 8-meter gorge and drops 43 meters into the “devil’s cauldron.”
Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Trip
After an early breakfast, you take a 3 to 4-hour game drive through the northern sector, spotting leopards, Cape buffalo, Rothschild giraffes, and elephants. After lunch, you take a 3-hour boat cruise on the Nile from Paraa, seeing crocodiles, hippos, and water birds.
Day 3: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, you begin a 7 to 8-hour drive to Kibale Forest National Park, passing views of the Albertine Rift Valley with a lunch stop in Fort Portal before checking in at your lodge.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Swamp Walk
After breakfast, you attend a briefing at Kanyanchu Visitor Centre before an 8:00 AM chimpanzee trek, taking 2 to 4 hours including your hour with the group. After lunch, a guided walk at Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary brings sightings of the Rwenzori Turaco and sitatungas.
Day 5: Crater Lakes Hike and Amabere Caves Visit
After coffee, you leave Kibale to explore the Crater Lakes and Amabere Caves, learning their cultural history, then hike around Kyegegwa Hill for views of the lakes and Rwenzori Mountains.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you drive 3 to 4 hours to Queen Elizabeth National Park, then visit Salt Lake to learn about local salt extraction after lunch.
Day 7: Game Drive and Boat Safari
After coffee, you take a 3-hour game drive through Kasenyi Plains, spotting elephants, lions, and buffaloes from an open-roof vehicle. After lunch, a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel brings sightings of hippos and crocodiles.
Day 8: Game Drive in Ishasha and Transfer to Bwindi
After breakfast, a short game drive in Ishasha gives you a chance to spot tree-climbing lions. You then drive 4 to 5 hours to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, stopping for lunch at Savanna Resort.
Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
After breakfast, you attend a briefing at Bwindi headquarters before your trek, taking 2 to 6 hours including your hour with the gorillas. Afterward, you can join a Batwa cultural experience near the forest.
Day 10: Departure
After breakfast, you begin the roughly 9-hour drive back, stopping for lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre and photos at the Equator crossing before reaching Kampala or Entebbe Airport.
