Your Gorilla Hurly Burly guide picks you up in Kigali and briefs you on the 7-day trip before a short city tour, including Caplaki Craft Market for traditional Rwandan souvenirs and handmade fabrics. After lunch, you drive to Akagera National Park for the evening and overnight stay.

Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Cruise

After breakfast, you head out for a game drive in Akagera, Rwanda’s only Savannah park, looking for lions, buffaloes, giraffes, and elephants. After lunch, you take a boat cruise on Lake Ihema, spotting more wildlife and birds along the shore. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, you drive to Volcanoes National Park in northwestern Rwanda, arriving in time for lunch. You then visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, learning about Rwandan traditions through activities like mock hunting, millet grinding, and banana beer making, with chances to join in yourself. You return to your lodge to rest.

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking

After breakfast, you head to park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules, then set out with your guide to find your assigned gorilla family. You spend one hour watching them feed, play, and move through the forest. After the trek, you return to the lodge to relax.

Day 5: Drive to Nyungwe via Lake Kivu

After coffee, you drive to Lake Kivu for a boat ride, taking in views of Rwanda’s hills and meeting local fishermen. After lunch, you continue to Nyungwe National Park for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy Walk in Nyungwe Forest

After breakfast, you trek through Nyungwe Forest to find chimpanzees, watching them play and swing through the trees. After lunch, you take a canopy walk above the forest, spotting more plants, monkeys, and birds from the walkway. Dinner and overnight stay follow.
