Detailed 6-Day Bwindi Gorillas & Serengeti Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kampala
After arriving at Entebbe Airport, your Gorilla Hurly Burly driver-guide meets you and drives you to Kampala, briefing you on the safari along the way. You check in at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, you check out and drive to southwestern Uganda, stopping at the Equator in Kayabwe for photos and a short lesson. You continue to Mbarara for lunch, then travel on to Bwindi through scenic hills and lakes. You arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner and rest.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
After breakfast, you drive to park headquarters for registration and a briefing on the trek. Your ranger guide leads you through the forest, with trekking time depending on the gorillas’ location. Once you find them, you spend one hour observing their behavior and taking photos, with no flash photography allowed.
After the trek, you collect your trekking certificate, then return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you visit the Batwa community to learn about their culture. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Kisoro Airstrip, Fly Entebbe to Arusha
After breakfast, you check out and drive to Kisoro Airstrip for a domestic flight to Entebbe International Airport, then connect to Arusha International Airport in Tanzania. On arrival, a Gorilla Hurly Burly representative meets you and transfers you to your camp or lodge near Arusha.
Day 5: Transfer to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you drive to Serengeti National Park, passing near Ngorongoro Crater with chances to spot wildlife along the way. Lunch is served en route. You arrive in Serengeti in the afternoon and go on a game drive, looking for lions, elephants, wildebeest, leopards, zebras, and giraffes. Dinner and overnight stay at your camp or lodge.
Day 6: Scheduled Flight Back to Arusha
You start the day with a pre-sunrise game drive, a good time to spot nocturnal animals and predators like lions, cheetahs, and hyenas hunting or feeding. An optional hot air balloon ride is available at an extra cost. After breakfast, you check out and drive to Arusha Airport for your flight home.
