Detailed 7-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive & Transfer to Kibale National Park

You will be welcomed by our driver-guide, who will explain your 7-day Uganda safari. You will then drive to Kibale National Park, located in western Uganda.

This park is home to 13 types of primates and is called the primate capital of the world.

Along the way, you will see landscapes, tea and banana plantations, and crater lakes. Check in at your lodge near Kibale for lunch and rest after the journey. Dinner will be served at the lodge.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Swamp Walk

After breakfast, drive to Kanyanchu Visitor Center. You will attend a briefing by a park ranger who will explain the rules for trekking. Then, follow the ranger into the rainforest to search for chimpanzees.

Trekking may take a few hours because chimpanzees keep moving as they look for food. Along the way, you may see red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and more.

When you find the chimpanzees, you will spend one hour with them, watching them communicate, play, and groom each other.

You can also take photos. After this, return to the visitor center and then back to the lodge for lunch.

In the evening, go for a nature walk at Bigodi Swamp, located a few kilometers away. You may see primates, sitatungas, and birds like the great blue turaco, grey parrots, and others. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 3: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park & Evening Game Drive

After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, the second-largest park in Uganda. It is the best place to see tree-climbing lions.

Check in at the lodge, then drive to the Ishasha sector, in the southern part of the park, to search for the lions. These lions often rest in fig and acacia trees and watch for prey from above. After the drive, return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 4: Game Drive in Kasenyi Plains & Evening Boat Cruise

After breakfast, go for a game drive in the Kasenyi Plains. You may see elephants, warthogs, buffaloes, leopards, and other animals. The plains are located near the Rwenzori Mountains, which you will see in the background. There will be good chances to take pictures of animals and birds.

Return to the lodge for lunch. In the evening, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. You will see many hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and birds like flamingos, pelicans, and kingfishers. After the cruise, return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, check out and drive to the southwestern part of Uganda, where Bwindi is located.

This park has half of the remaining mountain gorilla population. Along the way, enjoy the views of the highlands. On arrival, check in at your lodge and relax. Dinner will be served at the lodge.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Experience

After breakfast, go to the park headquarters for a briefing. A ranger guide will be assigned to you and will lead you into the forest to search for gorillas.

The trek can take 5 to 7 hours. Once you find the gorillas, you will spend one hour with them, watching how they move, play, and groom each other. Afterward, return to the park offices and then back to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the Batwa community. These people once lived inside the forest. Learn how they used to make fire, hunt, and gather food. You will also enjoy their dances and listen to stories from the elders. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 7: Travel Back to Kampala & Fly Back

This is your last day. After breakfast, pack your bags, check out, and drive back to Kampala. Stop at the Equator in Kayabwe for photos. Have lunch at a nearby restaurant and continue to Entebbe Airport for your departure flight.
