1-Day Express Gorilla Trekking Adventure in Rwanda

The short distance between Volcanoes National Park and Kigali City in Rwanda has made it possible to do one-day gorilla tracking safaris. This 1-Day Express Rwanda Gorilla Adventure requires you to already be in Rwanda and calls for an early departure. You have to be at the park headquarters in Kinigi by 7:30 AM, which means you need to leave Kigali City 3 hours before.

You must let us know where to pick you up, and our tour guide will be there by 3:00 AM. He will pick you up and transfer you to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze. You will drive in the early morning and arrive as the sun is just coming up.

The pre-briefing meeting commences at 7:30 AM and lasts for about 30 minutes. This meeting informs you of the dos and don’ts of mountain gorilla trekking in Rwanda. During this meeting, you will be allocated a gorilla group to track. Feel free to ask any questions you have, and be assured that you will receive clear answers.

After this meeting, you will head into the jungle to search for gorillas, accompanied by armed game rangers for protection. Your adventure could last for 2 to 8 hours, depending on factors such as the gorillas’ movements the previous day. In most cases, park rangers move ahead to locate the gorillas first, then communicate with your group to guide you in the right direction. This way, your trek becomes more certain and shorter.

When you meet the gorillas, bump your chest with one hand to show them respect. You will spend close to an hour with them before returning to the starting point to receive your respective gorilla tracking certificates. Immediately after receiving your certificate, you will have a late lunch and transfer to Kigali to catch your flight or be dropped off at an accommodation facility of your choice.
