Best Time to Visit Uganda – A Month-by-Month Travel Guide

Searching for the Best Time to Visit Uganda? Uganda can be visited all year, but some months are better than others because the country has both dry and wet seasons. There are two wet seasons and two dry seasons each year.
Uganda has a warm tropical climate with daytime temperatures ranging from 25 to 29 degrees Celsius, dropping to 17 to 18 degrees at night. Mountain areas are cooler throughout the year compared to the lowlands.

Most parts of the country, except the semi-arid northeast, receive between 1000 to 1500mm of rainfall per year. One good thing about Uganda is that even after heavy rain, the sun usually comes out again.
June to August
This is the longest dry season and a peak travel period in Uganda. It is the best time to visit because the roads to tourist sites are in good condition, the grass in the parks is short, making it easier to see wildlife, and animals gather around water sources.
December to February
This is the shorter dry season, which is also a good time to visit. Parks are less crowded than in June to August, roads are in good condition, and trekking and walking trails are easy to use.
September to November
This is the short wet season in Uganda. It is the best time for bird lovers because many migratory birds from Europe and North Africa arrive. It is also a good time for photography since the vegetation is green and short.
During this season, chimpanzee tracking is easier because there is plenty of food on the ground, so they do not move deep into the forest.
March to May
This is the longest wet season in Uganda. Sometimes, after rain, the sun will shine, so your activities may continue. However, the roads to some tourist destinations can be challenging, and the bushes in the parks are thick, making it harder to see wildlife and to trek to see mountain gorillas.
The best time to visit Uganda is during the dry seasons of June to August and December to February, but it is still possible to visit during the wet seasons, though it is less recommended.
Keep in mind that the weather can be unpredictable, and rain can occur even in the dry season.
Uganda is a landlocked country in Eastern Africa and is known as the Pearl of Africa. It is one of the best tourism destinations in the world, home to the world’s longest river, the strongest waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, half of the world’s mountain gorilla population, many game parks and reserves, and much more.
