Detailed 3-Day Rwanda Gorillas & Dian Fossey Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

On the first day, your guide will pick you up from the airport or your hotel in Kigali. You will then drive about 2 hours to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze.

When you arrive, check into your lodge and rest.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking & Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village

This is the main day of your trip. Wake up early and go to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a short briefing. Then, start your trek into the forest to find the gorillas.

Once you find them, spend one hour watching and taking pictures. After the trek, return to the headquarters to get your gorilla trekking certificate.

In the afternoon, visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to learn about Rwandan culture. After the visit, return to your lodge for the night.

Day 3: Dian Fossey Grave Visit & Departure

On the last day, visit Dian Fossey’s grave located between Mount Karisimbi and Mount Bisoke. After the visit, return to Kigali for your flight home.
