Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Your Gorilla Hurly Burly guide picks you up from the airport or your hotel in Kigali and drives you about 2 hours to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze. On arrival, you check into your lodge and rest for the evening.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village
This is the main day of your trip. You wake up early and head to park headquarters in Kinigi for a short briefing, then start your trek into the forest to find your assigned gorilla family.
Once you find them, you spend one hour watching and photographing the group. After the trek, you return to headquarters to collect your gorilla trekking certificate. In the afternoon, you visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to learn about Rwandan traditions and daily life, then return to your lodge for the night.
Day 3: Dian Fossey Grave Visit and Departure
On your last day, you visit Dian Fossey’s grave, located between Mount Karisimbi and Mount Bisoke, where you learn more about her conservation work and legacy. After the visit, you return to Kigali for your flight home. If your flight departs later in the day, you can fit in a short Kigali city tour before leaving.
