Detailed 3-Day Luxury Rwanda Helicopter Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Helicopter Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

On arrival at Kigali International Airport, your experienced Gorilla Hurly Burly guide briefs you on the trip ahead. The transfer to Volcanoes National Park takes about 4 hours by road, with views of the Virunga Mountains along the way and flexibility for stopovers at points of interest. You arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge, and rest after dinner.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, you transfer to park headquarters for a short briefing before the trek. Trekking routes typically lead to the lower slopes of Mount Huye, Bisoke, or Karisimbi, depending on where your assigned gorilla group is located that day.

Once you find the gorillas, you spend one hour observing their daily activities. On a good day, you might also spot forest elephants, buffaloes, or other primates along the trail. After the trek, you return to your lodge for lunch and rest.

In the afternoon, you visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to learn about Rwanda’s three main ethnic groups: the Twa, Hutu, and Tutsi. You take part in traditional music and dance, sample local food, and talk with community members about their way of life.

Day 3: Helicopter Transfer to Kigali and Departure

After breakfast, you check out of the lodge and transfer back to Kigali or directly to the airport for your flight home.
