Detailed 15-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Hotel Transfer
Your Gorilla Hurly Burly guide meets you at the airport and gives a short introduction to the trip on the way to your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay follow at the hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
After breakfast, you begin the 305 km drive to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest park, stopping at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track white rhinos. You continue to Masindi town for lunch before reaching the park.
Day 3: Game Drive and Boat Cruise
You take a morning game drive across the park’s savanna grasslands, spotting lions, elephants, and buffaloes. After lunch, a boat cruise on the Nile takes you to the base of the falls, with hippos, crocodiles, and birds along the riverbanks.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, you drive about 9 hours to Kibale National Park, stopping in Fort Portal for lunch. Kibale holds over 13 primate species and more than 325 bird species. On arrival, you check in at your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Wetland Walk
After an early breakfast, you attend a briefing before entering the forest to track chimpanzees, spending one hour with them once you find the group. After lunch, a 3 to 4-hour walk through Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary brings strong birdwatching opportunities. Dinner and overnight stay follow.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you drive west to Queen Elizabeth National Park, home to over 600 bird species, with views of the Rwenzori Mountains along the way. You check in at your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 7: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise
After breakfast, you drive to the Kasenyi sector for a morning game drive, spotting lions, elephants, and buffaloes. After lunch, a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel brings sightings of crocodiles and hippos along the banks. Dinner and overnight stay follow.
Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha Sector
After breakfast, you travel to Bwindi through the Ishasha sector, looking for tree-climbing lions resting in the branches. You continue to Bwindi, home to mountain gorillas, and check in at your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
After breakfast, you attend a briefing at park headquarters before setting out to track your assigned gorilla family, a trek taking 2 to 6 hours. You spend one full hour with the gorillas before returning to your lodge.
Day 10: Drive to Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, you transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, home to 29 islands, and enjoy a sunset boat cruise with stops at some of the islands.
Day 11: Full Day at Lake Bunyonyi
You spend the day relaxing at Lake Bunyonyi, with options including community visits, canoeing, and zip-lining.
Day 12: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, you drive to Lake Mburo National Park near Mbarara, home to zebras, impalas, and over 332 bird species. On arrival, an afternoon game drive introduces you to the park’s wildlife before dinner and overnight stay.
Day 13: Horseback Riding and Walking Safari
You explore Lake Mburo by game drive or horseback before driving back toward Kampala, stopping at the Equator for photos and the water swirl experiment. Dinner and overnight stay follow in Kampala.
Day 14: Transfer to Jinja
After breakfast, you drive to Jinja through Mabira Forest, once Uganda’s largest tropical forest. Jinja sits on the Nile, Africa’s longest river. After lunch, you take a boat ride to the source of the Nile.
Day 15: White Water Rafting and Departure
After an early breakfast, you take on the Nile’s rapids with a white water rafting session. After lunch back at your lodge, you drive to Entebbe for your departure flight.
