Detailed 15-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Hotel Transfer

Our professional guide will meet you at the airport and welcome you to the Pearl of Africa. The guide will give you a short introduction about the trip as you travel to your hotel.

After checking in, you will have a delicious dinner and spend the night resting for the next day.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After breakfast, start the 305 km journey to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and most visited park. Stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track white rhinos.

Watching these large animals live their daily lives is exciting. Then continue to Masindi town for lunch, before driving to Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 3: Game Drive & Boat Cruise

Wake up early and take a morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park. You will see lions, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks, oribis, Uganda kobs, topis, and many more animals.

The park’s wide savanna grasslands offer beautiful views.

After lunch, enjoy an afternoon boat cruise on the River Nile. The cruise takes you to the base of the falls, one of the strongest waterfalls in the world.

Along the river, you can see hippos, crocodiles, and many birds and mammals coming to drink.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, check out of your lodge and drive about 9 hours to Kibale National Park, stopping in Fort Portal for lunch. Kibale is home to over 13 species of primates, especially chimpanzees.

The park also has over 325 bird species. When you arrive, check in to your lodge, have dinner, and rest.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Wetland Walk

Have an early breakfast and go to the park headquarters for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking. Then enter the forest to find chimpanzees.

Once you find them, you have one hour to watch them before returning to the starting point.

After lunch, visit Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, a great place for bird watching. The walk lasts 3 to 4 hours and offers many bird sightings. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, check out and drive west to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a home to many animals and over 600 bird species. You will see elephants, buffaloes, lions, and more.

Along the way, enjoy views of the Rwenzori mountains. Check in at your lodge, have dinner, and rest.

Day 7: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Boat Cruise

Have breakfast and drive to the Kasenyi sector for a morning game drive. You may see lions, warthogs, antelopes, elephants, buffaloes, and sometimes leopards.

After lunch, take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This cruise is one of the best in Uganda, with many crocodiles, hippos, and other animals along the riverbanks.

Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha Sector

After a hearty breakfast, travel to Bwindi National Park through the Ishasha sector. Here, you will look for tree-climbing lions resting in the branches. Watching them is safe and fun.

Then continue to Bwindi to see mountain gorillas, which share 98% of human DNA and live in families. Check in to your lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

Have breakfast and go to the park headquarters for a briefing. You will be assigned a gorilla group to track. Trekking takes 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ movement and your group’s pace.

You will spend one full hour with the gorillas. After trekking, return to your lodge.

Day 10: Drive to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, which has 29 islands. It is one of the most beautiful places in Uganda.

Enjoy a sunset boat cruise on the lake and visit some of the islands.

Day 11: Full Day at Lake Bunyonyi

Spend the whole day relaxing at Lake Bunyonyi. You can choose to visit local communities, go canoeing, try zip-lining, or enjoy other activities.

Day 12: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park near Mbarara. This park is home to zebras and other animals that are less dangerous.

You will also find impalas, oribis, buffaloes, warthogs, and over 332 bird species. On arrival, take an afternoon game drive to see the wildlife.

Check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Horseback Riding & Walking Safari

Take a game drive or horseback ride to explore Lake Mburo. Then start your drive back to Kampala. Stop at the equator for photos and souvenirs.

See the water experiment that shows how water swirls in different directions in the northern and southern hemispheres. Continue to Kampala for dinner and overnight.

Day 14: Transfer to Jinja

After breakfast, drive to Jinja, passing through Mabira Forest, once Uganda’s largest tropical forest. Jinja lies on the River Nile, Africa’s longest river, which flows over 4000 kilometers through four countries.

On arrival, have lunch and take a boat ride to the source of the Nile.

Day 15: White Water Rafting & Departure

After an early breakfast, go white water rafting, an exciting experience found only at the source of the Nile in Uganda. Face the river rapids with courage.

After rafting, return to your lodge for lunch. Then drive to Entebbe to catch your flight home.
