Detailed 9-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Hotel Transfer
You will arrive at Entebbe Airport. Meet your driver guide for a short briefing about your 9-day safari tour. After that, transfer to your hotel in Entebbe for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park & Evening Bigodi Nature Walk
After breakfast, leave your hotel and start a 5 to 6-hour drive to Kibale Forest National Park, a natural rain-forest in western Uganda. You will pass through Mityana, Mubende, and Fort Portal.
Stop for lunch in Fort Portal and enjoy views of the crater lakes.
Check in to your lodge and rest. In the afternoon, take a guided walk at Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. You will see red-tailed monkeys, red colobus, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus, L’Hoest monkeys, butterflies, birds, and wetland plants.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Have a big breakfast, then attend a briefing about chimpanzee trekking rules. At 8:00 a.m., start the chimpanzee trek with a park guide. The trek takes 2 to 4 hours.
When you find the chimpanzees, you will spend about 1 hour watching them from a distance of 8 to 10 meters.
Return to the lodge for lunch, then drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Day 4: Game Drive in Kasenyi Plains & Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel
Start early with tea or coffee, then go on a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains. The drive takes 2 to 3 hours and gives you a chance to see antelopes, leopards, lions, elephants, buffaloes, and many birds.
Return for lunch. In the afternoon, take a 2 to 3-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. You will see many hippos, crocodiles, and aquatic birds.
Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Have an early breakfast and then begin your journey to Bwindi. On the way, pass through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you may see tree-climbing lions and other animals.
Stop for lunch at Savanna Resort Hotel before arriving at Bwindi in the evening.
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
After breakfast, carry your snacks, water, and a walking stick. Go to the park office for a briefing. You will be assigned a gorilla group and a guide to lead you.
Bwindi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to about 459 mountain gorillas. There are four trekking areas: Ruhija, Rushaga, Nkuringo, and Buhoma.
The trek can take from 2 to 6 hours. Once you find the gorillas, you will spend one hour observing and taking photos. In the afternoon or evening, you can join a Batwa community visit to learn about their culture.
Day 7: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, leave Bwindi and travel to Lake Mburo National Park. Stop for lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre. On arrival, take a short game drive and see animals like giraffes, waterbucks, impalas, zebras, birds, and more. Later in the afternoon, go for a boat tour on Lake Mburo.
Day 8: Nature Walk & Drive Back to Kampala or Entebbe
Have an early tea or coffee, then go for a nature walk with a park guide. This walk brings you close to zebras, giraffes, antelopes, and birds.
After the walk, check out and drive back to Kampala or Entebbe. Stop at the Equator crossing for photos before reaching your hotel or airport.
Day 9: Departure from Entebbe Airport
After breakfast, transfer to the airport to catch your flight home. This ends your 9-day Uganda primates tracking and wildlife viewing safari tour.
