Detailed 12-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast at 6:30 am, leave for Murchison Falls National Park at 7:00 am. The drive takes 6 to 7 hours, passing through small towns and roadside markets.

Stop in Masindi town for lunch before continuing to the park. Check in at your lodge, then hike to the top of the falls.

Enjoy dinner and spend the night at a lodge or tented camp overlooking the Nile River.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drives in Murchison Falls National Park

Start early with a half-day game drive after breakfast. You may see Cape buffaloes, African elephants, lions, hartebeests, Uganda kobs, Rothschild giraffes, waterbucks, leopards, topis, oribis, and many birds.

After lunch, enjoy a boat cruise on the Nile River. Look for hippos, crocodiles, and many birds. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, drive to Kibale Forest National Park. Stop in Fort Portal for lunch before heading to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest & Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, register and attend a briefing at Kibale Forest Park headquarters. Kibale has the largest number of primate species in Africa. A ranger will guide you through the forest to find chimpanzees.

After trekking, return to the lodge for lunch. Then visit the Crater Lake region to see some crater lakes before driving to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Boat Cruise

After breakfast, take a morning game drive in the Kasenyi area. You may see Uganda kobs, elephants, warthogs, buffaloes, topis, waterbucks, duikers, bushbucks, lions, forest hogs, baboons, and leopards.

In the afternoon, visit Mweya jetty on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lakes Edward and George. Spot hippos, crocodiles, and many birds. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast, then start your journey to Bwindi National Park, home to mountain gorillas. Drive south of Queen Elizabeth Park, stopping in Ishasha for a short game drive to see tree-climbing lions.

Continue to Bwindi with a lunch break at Savannah Resort Kihihi. Arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi & Drive to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, go to the park headquarters for a briefing. Start trekking to find mountain gorillas. The trek can take 30 minutes to half a day depending on your group and the gorillas’ location.

Spend one hour with the gorillas. After the trek, enjoy a packed lunch, then return to the park headquarters to meet your driver and head to Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 8: Full Day at Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, enjoy activities at Lake Bunyonyi. Options include boat rides, cycling, bird watching, guided walks, and canoeing. Take a morning boat ride to visit some of the lake’s many islands.

In the afternoon, take a guided village tour for bird watching and to meet local people. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 9: Drive from Lake Bunyonyi to Lake Mburo National Park

Have an early breakfast before driving 4 to 5 hours to Lake Mburo National Park. This is Uganda’s smallest savannah park and is home to rare animals like zebras, waterbucks, elands, giraffes, and impalas.

After lunch, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Mburo.

Day 10: Transfer to Jinja via Kampala

Start with an early breakfast, then take a short game drive in Lake Mburo Park. Look for elands, warthogs, impalas, topis, vervet monkeys, hyenas, waterbucks, baboons, buffaloes, oribis, and leopards.

Then leave the park and drive to Jinja through Kampala. Stop for lunch on the way. Dinner and overnight in Jinja.

Day 11: Full Day Jinja Tour

Jinja is known as the Adventure Capital of East Africa. Here, you can do boat trips to the source of the Nile, quad biking, horseback riding, bungee jumping, white water rafting, and biking tours.

You will take part in at least three of these activities. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Back to Entebbe and Departure

After breakfast, drive back to Kampala and then to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight.
