Detailed 8-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
When you arrive at Entebbe International Airport, go through immigration, get your visa, and show your Yellow Fever Certificate.
Then meet your private safari driver, who will take you to your hotel.
You will spend the night in a hotel in Kampala. You can choose a budget, mid-range, or luxury option.
Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast at your hotel, your driver will explain the 8-day primate and wildlife safari. Then you will start the journey to Kibale Forest National Park. The drive takes 5 to 6 hours with two stops.
The first stop is in Mubende to visit Mubende Hill and see a 600-year-old tree that people believe brings blessings. The second stop is for lunch in Fort Portal.
When you arrive at Kibale, check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking & Nyakasura Hill Hike
After breakfast, go to the Kanyanchu Visitor Center for registration and a briefing about chimpanzee trekking. Then join park rangers and other visitors to search for chimpanzees in the forest.
The trek can take 1 to 3 hours. When you find them, spend one hour watching, taking photos, and recording videos.
Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, hike Nyakasura Hill, which rises 1,657 meters above sea level. It is a challenging walk, so you need to be fit.
From the top, you will see crater lakes and nearby hills. You may also see some birds. Return to your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided walk. You may see primates and birds such as the Papyrus Gonolek, Collared Apalis, Great Blue Turaco, African Pitta, and Crowned Eagles.
Return to the lodge for lunch, then travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park. On arrival, you will see many savanna animals.
Day 5: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel
Start the day with breakfast, then go for a game drive in the Kasenyi area. You may see Uganda Kobs, Topis, Defassa Waterbucks, Warthogs, Leopards, Serval Cats, Lions, Elephants, Hippos, and Buffaloes.
Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lakes Edward and George. You will see hippos, Nile crocodiles, and many bird species.
After the boat cruise, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha
After breakfast, leave Queen Elizabeth National Park and drive to the Ishasha sector. This is where lions are often seen resting in trees. Enjoy the views and stop for lunch at Savannah Resort.
Then continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to mountain gorillas. The drive takes about 3 to 4 hours. Arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After breakfast, go to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. You will be assigned a gorilla group and guided into the forest by armed rangers.
The trek can take 1 to 5 hours depending on where the gorillas are. You will spend one hour watching, taking pictures, and recording videos.
In the evening, visit the Batwa pygmies near the forest. Learn how they lived in the forest, watch them make fire using sticks, and hear about their culture.
Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Drive Back to Entebbe for Airport or Hotel Drop-Off
After breakfast, drive back to Kampala. You will have lunch on the way and arrive in the evening. Your driver will drop you at your hotel or Entebbe International Airport.
