Detailed 8-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
On arrival, you go through immigration, get your visa, and show your Yellow Fever Certificate. Your Gorilla Hurly Burly driver meets you and transfers you to your hotel in Kampala, with budget, mid-range, or luxury options available for the night.
Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, your driver briefs you on the 8-day safari before the drive to Kibale Forest National Park, taking 5 to 6 hours with two stops. You stop in Mubende to see a 600-year-old tree, then in Fort Portal for lunch. On arrival at Kibale, you check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking and Nyakasura Hill Hike
After breakfast, you register at Kanyanchu Visitor Center for a briefing, then join rangers to search for chimpanzees, a trek taking 1 to 3 hours. Once you find them, you spend one hour watching and photographing the group. After lunch, you hike Nyakasura Hill, rising 1,657 meters, for views of crater lakes and surrounding hills. Dinner follows at the lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided walk, spotting primates and birds including the Great Blue Turaco and Crowned Eagle. After lunch, you travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving amid open savanna wildlife.
Day 5: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel
After breakfast, you take a game drive through the Kasenyi area, looking for Uganda kobs, lions, elephants, and buffaloes. After lunch, you take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, connecting Lake Edward and Lake George, with sightings of hippos, crocodiles, and birds. Dinner follows at the lodge.
Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha
After breakfast, you drive to the Ishasha sector, known for tree-climbing lions, stopping for lunch at Savannah Resort. You continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After breakfast, you attend a briefing at park headquarters, then trek into the forest with armed rangers, a hike taking 1 to 5 hours depending on the gorillas’ location. Once you find them, you spend one hour observing and photographing the group. In the evening, you visit the Batwa pygmies near the forest to learn traditional fire-making and cultural history. Dinner follows at the lodge.
Day 8: Drive Back to Entebbe for Airport or Hotel Drop-Off
After breakfast, you drive back to Kampala with a lunch stop along the way, arriving in the evening for drop-off at your hotel or Entebbe International Airport.
