With three habituated families in the sector, Nkuringo offers 24 permits daily, since each family accepts a maximum of 8 visitors per day, and all trekkers must be at least 15 years old.

Getting to Nkuringo
Nkuringo sits on Bwindi’s southern border, at the edge of the Albertine Rift, roughly 34 km from Kisoro Town and 83 km from Kabale. From Entebbe or Kampala, the drive takes about 8 to 9 hours via the Kampala-Kabale route, or 9 to 10 hours via Kisoro-Mutanda.
Travelers coming from the Gatuna/Katuna border cover 24 km to reach Kabale, while those coming from Ishasha in Queen Elizabeth National Park via Kihihi reach Nkuringo in about 5 hours. Adventurous travelers can also walk to Nkuringo directly from Buhoma using the Ivy River Trail or Kashasha Trail.
By air, flights from Entebbe International Airport to Kisoro Airstrip connect with a one-hour drive on dirt roads to reach Nkuringo. Alternatively, flying to Kihihi Airstrip in Kabale followed by a road transfer offers another route into the sector.
