Gorilla Trekking in September – Rainy Season Adventure in Uganda

Gorilla Trekking in September - Rainy Season Adventure in Uganda

Gorilla Trekking in September – September is part of the rainy season in Uganda, with the forest receiving strong rain showers and fewer hours of sunshine.

Daytime temperatures in September range between 20 to 26°C, while nights and mornings drop to around 10°C.

The journey begins from the lodge, moving along muddy roads to the park headquarters in a 4×4 safari vehicle. When tourists arrive, they are greeted by park rangers who divide them into groups of eight.

Tourists, excited for the day, attend a briefing that prepares them for the trek ahead.

Following the briefing, trekkers are led by a park ranger along slippery and muddy paths into the heart of the forest. The path goes through thick forest canopies and undergrowth, maintained by the heavy September rains.

As you follow the trail, the hike moves from moderate to challenging, and tourists may spend between 30 minutes to 6 hours before seeing the gorillas.

Because the trails are muddy, hiking boots may feel heavier, and more energy is needed to navigate the forest. However, those who stay committed will be rewarded.

When you reach a dense patch of foliage, you will find a family of mountain gorillas feeding, playing, and interacting. The guide will ask tourists to keep a safe distance to avoid stressing the gorillas.

If a gorilla charges, you will be asked to crouch down to show submission. The guide explains each aspect in detail, bringing smiles to the group.

After spending one hour with the gorillas, tourists are guided to leave. The return journey is just as interesting, with chances to see monkeys, chimpanzees, and various birds along the way.

When tourists arrive back at the park headquarters, they are welcomed and awarded a gorilla trekking certificate in recognition of their support for gorilla conservation.

Trekkers then return to their lodge for a meal to complete the day.

In this month you can visit virunga, tanzania and rwanda for private gorilla trekking.

Gorilla trekking in September offers a personal and rewarding experience, as it is a shoulder season with fewer crowds.
