Detailed 6-Day Uganda Fly-In Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On arrival at the airport, your company guide will receive you, or you will be picked up from your hotel if you stayed overnight.

The guide will brief you about the trip and then transfer you to the airstrip in Entebbe for your scheduled or chartered flight to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Community Walk

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing from the ranger guide. You will be divided into groups of eight people, each assigned to one gorilla family.

Trekking involves walking through thick forest in search of the gorillas. You may need to hold onto branches or use a walking stick as the forest can be steep and slippery.

Once you find the gorillas, you will spend one hour with them, watching their daily activities. You may see the young ones playing and the silverback guarding the group.

After lunch, go for an optional cultural visit to the Batwa people, who were the first to live in the forest. Learn about their way of life, watch traditional dances, and taste some local food.

Day 3: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park & Boat Ride

After breakfast, start your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive takes about four hours and passes through the Ishasha sector, known for tree-climbing lions, which are also found in Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania.

In the afternoon, after checking in and having lunch at the lodge, enjoy a boat ride on the Kazinga Channel. This channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George and has many hippos, crocodiles, and water birds.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive & Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After an early breakfast, go for a game drive through the park. Look out for elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs, hyenas, leopards, lions, waterbucks, oribis, topis, and more.

The drive also gives you views of the craters and crater lakes.

In the afternoon, after lunch, drive to Kibale Forest National Park. On the way, enjoy views of the Rwenzori Mountains and the green countryside. You will arrive in the evening and check in at your lodge.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Wetland Walk

After breakfast, go to the park headquarters for a briefing by a ranger guide. Then enter the forest to track chimpanzees.

Kibale Forest is home to many primates, and chimpanzee trekking takes about 3 to 5 hours. You may hear the chimps before you see them.

Once you find the chimpanzees, you can watch them play and go about their day. You may also see other animals like monkeys, forest elephants, and buffaloes. Remember to avoid using flash when taking photos.

After lunch and a short rest at the lodge, take a nature walk in Bigodi Wetland. You may see more primates and birds. This is a good way to end the day.

Day 6: Fly Back to Entebbe

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Mweya Airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe. This will be the end of your trip.
