Your 3-day Rwanda gorillas and golden monkey trekking adventure takes place in Volcanoes National Park, one of the oldest parks in Africa. It is home to endangered mountain gorillas and rare golden monkeys.

Here, you will join a small group of travelers who have trekked these primates and learn how they live and survive in the tough conditions of the Virunga Forest.

On the way to the park, you will enjoy great views of the twin lakes. You can ask your driver-guide to stop for photos.

Detailed 3-Day Rwanda Gorilla & Golden Monkey Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Meet our driver-guide who will give you a briefing about the 3-day gorilla and golden monkey trekking tour. Then, drive to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda’s finest park in the northwest. Check in at the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Relaxation

Wake up early, have breakfast, and your driver-guide will take you to the park headquarters. Here, you will have a briefing and your permits will be checked.

Then, you will move to the starting point to meet your ranger guide.

The ranger will give a short briefing before leading you into the forest to find the mountain gorillas.

Rwanda gorilla trekking may take 1 to 7 hours because the gorillas move as they search for food and safety.

Once you find them, you will spend one hour watching them play, breastfeed their young, and sometimes mate. You can take photos during this time.

Children under 15 years are not allowed to join the trek.

After the trek, return to the starting point where you will receive a certificate of participation.

Then, head back to the lodge for lunch and rest after the long forest walk.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking & Departure

After breakfast, go again to the park headquarters for a briefing with a ranger guide. Then, enter the forest to find the rare golden monkeys.

Like the gorillas, you will spend one hour watching the monkeys as they jump from tree to tree, play, and show their funny behaviors. You can also take photos.

After the golden monkey trek, return to the lodge for lunch. After checking out, drive back to Kigali International Airport for your flight home.
