Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
When you arrive at Kigali airport, our experienced driver-guide will meet you. He will give you a briefing about the trip as he drives you to Volcanoes National Park.
Depending on your arrival time, you may drive through Kigali city at your own pace.
The journey to Volcanoes National Park offers clear views of the Virunga mountains and Rwanda’s famous hills. You will arrive at the park in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Departure
After breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for a short briefing about gorilla trekking by a local ranger. You will be placed in groups of eight trekkers to visit one gorilla family per day.
Then, enter the forest to look for the gorillas. Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park means hiking on the lower slopes of Karisimbi or Bisoke mountains.
You will walk on slippery trails and paths that are not well marked, sometimes using a walking stick or your hands to help you balance.
When you find the gorillas, you will spend one hour with them. Watch the silverback guarding his family, young gorillas jumping from tree to tree, and mothers caring for their babies.
You can take as many photos as you like, but please do not use flash.
After one hour, return to the park headquarters and then to the lodge for lunch and check out. Finally, travel back to Kigali and go straight to the airport for your flight home.
