Detailed 6-Day Bwindi Gorillas & Ngorongoro Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Our company representative will meet you at your hotel in Arusha after breakfast. After a brief overview of the safari, you will travel to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, home to the famous Ngorongoro Crater.

Arrive in the afternoon for lunch, then take an exciting afternoon tour around the crater rim. Look out for animals like giraffes, topis, and impalas, which live only on the rim and not inside the crater.

Enjoy one of Africa’s natural wonders. Dinner and overnight stay at your camp or lodge.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater Tour – Full day

After an early breakfast, head down into the crater for a full day of wildlife viewing. The crater is home to over 25,000 animals and more than 450 bird species.

You may see big cats such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards, though leopards are rarely seen. Other animals include elephants, buffaloes, black rhinos, hippos, elands, wildebeests, zebras, oribis, waterbucks, Thomson’s gazelles, and many types of birds.

Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy during the day. Return to your camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Arusha and flight to Entebbe

After breakfast, check out and begin your drive back to Arusha. Along the way, you will have one last chance to see wildlife as you leave the conservation area.

Arrive at Arusha airport to catch your flight to Entebbe, Uganda. On arrival, our driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast at your hotel in Kampala, your driver will start the road trip to southwestern Uganda. Enjoy the changing scenery along the way.

Stop first at the Equator line in Kayabwe for photos and some interesting facts. Then stop in Mbarara for a hot lunch and refreshments.

From here, the views become even more beautiful as you continue to Bwindi. Arrive in the evening, check in, have dinner, and rest at your lodge or camp.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

Today you will meet the mountain gorillas. After an early breakfast, your driver will take you to the park headquarters for a briefing and final preparations before entering the forest.

Your ranger guides will lead you through the dense Bwindi forest to find the gorilla family you are assigned to. The trek can take from one to six hours depending on where the gorillas are and the condition of the trails, which may be muddy and slippery.

When you find the gorillas, you will have one full hour with them. Keep the recommended distance, take photos, and ask questions.

After the trek, return to the headquarters for your trekking certificates. Then drive back to your lodge for lunch and rest.

If time allows, you may visit the nearby Batwa community to learn about their culture. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge or camp.

Day 6: Transfer to Entebbe

Enjoy a fresh morning in Bwindi. After breakfast, prepare for the drive back to Entebbe.

Stop for lunch on the way before your driver drops you at the airport to catch your flight home.
