Day 1: Arusha to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Your Gorilla Hurly Burly representative meets you at your hotel in Arusha after breakfast. Following a safari briefing, you travel to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, home to the Ngorongoro Crater. You arrive in the afternoon for lunch, then take a tour around the crater rim. You can spot giraffes, topis, and impalas, animals that live only on the rim and not inside the crater itself. Dinner and overnight stay at your camp or lodge.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater Tour, Full Day
After an early breakfast, you descend into the crater for a full day of wildlife viewing. The crater holds over 25,000 animals and more than 450 bird species. You may see lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, black rhinos, hippos, elands, wildebeest, zebras, and Thomson’s gazelles. You carry a picnic lunch to enjoy inside the crater. Dinner and overnight stay at your camp or lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Arusha and Flight to Entebbe
After breakfast, you check out and drive back to Arusha, with one more chance to spot wildlife on the way out of the conservation area. At Arusha airport, you catch your flight to Entebbe, Uganda. On arrival, a Gorilla Hurly Burly driver meets you and transfers you to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast in Kampala, you begin the road trip to southwestern Uganda. You stop at the Equator line in Kayabwe for photos, then stop again in Mbarara for lunch. You continue to Bwindi, arriving in the evening for dinner and rest at your lodge or camp.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
After an early breakfast, you drive to park headquarters for a briefing before entering the forest. Ranger guides lead you through Bwindi’s dense forest to find your assigned gorilla family. The trek can take 1 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location and trail conditions. Once you find them, you spend one full hour observing the group and taking photos. After the trek, you receive your gorilla trekking certificate, then return to your lodge for lunch. If time allows, you can visit the nearby Batwa community. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge or camp.
Day 6: Transfer to Entebbe
After breakfast, you prepare for the drive back to Entebbe. You stop for lunch on the way before your driver drops you at the airport for your flight home.
